^N ACT Making appropriations for the Legislative Branch and the Judiciary Branch for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1954, and for other purposes. t e it enacted by the Senate and Hause of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sums are appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the Legislative Branch and the Judiciary Branch for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1954, namely: TITLE I—LEGISLATIVE BRANCH SENATE SALARIES AND EXPENSE ALLOWANCE OF SENATORS, MILEAGE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE AND OF SENATORS, AND SALARY AND EXPENSE ALLOWANCE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT

For compensation of Senators, $1,200,000. For expense allowance of Senators, $240,000. For mileage of the President of the Senate and of Senators, $51,000. For the compensation of the Vice President of the United States, $30,000. For expense allowance of the Vice President, $10,000. SALARIES, OFFICERS A N D EMPLOYEES

For compensation of oflficers, employees, clerks to Senators, and others as authorized by law, as follows: OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT

For clerical assistance to the Vice President, at rates of compensation to be fixed by him in multiples of $5 per month, $55,410. CHAPLAIN

Chaplain of the Senate, $2,946. OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY

For office of the Secretary, $442,555, including one camera and sound engineer, Joint Recording Facility, at the basic rate of $4,080 per annum, and one shipping clerk. Joint Recording Facility, at the basic rate of $1,500 per annum, as authorized by Public Law 11, Eightythird Congress, and including an Assistant to the Minority at the basic rate of $8,000 per annum at the option of the Minority Policy Committee. COMMITTEEMPLOYEES

For professional and clerical assistance to standing committees, and the Select Committee on Small Business, $1,737,045. CONFERENCE COMMITTEES

For clerical assistance to the Conference of the Majority, at rates of compensation to be fixed by the chairman of said committee, $33,310. For clerical assistance to the Conference of the Minority, at rates of compensation to be fixed by the chairman of said committee, $33,310.
