AN ACT Making appropriations for the Tennessee Valley Authority, certain agencies of the Department of the Interior, and civil functions administered by the Department of the Army, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1957, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sums are appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1957, for the Tennessee Valley Authority, certain agencies of the Department of the Interior, and civil functions administered by the Department of the Army, and for other purposes, namely: TITLE I—TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY

For the purpose of carrying out the provisions of the Tennessee 48 Stat. 58. Valley Authority Act of 1933, as amended (16 U.S.C. ch. 12A), 16 USC 831. including hire, maintenance, and operation of aircraft, and purchase (not to exceed two hundred and eleven, for replacement only) and >mtn°"'*'* '^*'"^' ^i^® of passenger motor vehicles, $5,357,000: Provided, That there opment shall be available for resource development activities pursuant to the Tennessee Valley Authority Act of 1933, as amended, not to exceed $1,150,000: Provided further, That none of the funds provided herein may be used to acquire a building for use as an Administrative office of the Tennessee Valley Authority. The sum of $6,500,000 appropriated under this head in the Public Works Appropriation Act, 1956, for transmission connections with the Mississippi Valley Generating Company is rescinded as of July 1, 1956, and shall be covered into the Treasury as of that date.
