For expenses necessary for permanent representation to certain international organizations in which the United States participates pursuant to treaties, conventions, or specific Acts of Congress, including expenses authorized by the pertinent Acts and conventions providing for such representation; attendance at meetingjs of societies or associations concerned with the work of the organizations; salaries, expenses, and allowances of personnel and dependents as authorized by the Foreign Service Act of 1946, as amended (22 U.S.C. 8011158); hire of passenger motor vehicles; printing and binding, without regard to section 11 of the Act of March 1, 1919 (44 U.S.C. I l l); and purchase of uniforms for guards and chauffeurs; $1,690,000: Provided, That, hereafter, Senate delegates to Conferences of the Interparliamentary Union shall be designated by the Presiding Officer of the Senate. For necessary expenses of participation by the United States upon approval by the Secretary of State, in international activities which arise from time to time in the conduct of foreign affairs and for which specific appropriations have not been provided pursuant to treaties, conventions, or special Acts of Congress, including personal services without regard to civil service and classification laws; salaries, expenses and allowances of personnel and dependents as authorized by ^j^g Foreign Service Act of 1946, as amended (22 U.S.C. 801-1158); hire of passenger motor vehicles; contributions for the share of the United States in expenses of international organizations; and printing and binding without regard to section 11 of the Act of March 1, 1919 (44 jj g. Q m). $1,600,000, of which not to exceed a total of $100,000 may be expended for representation allowances as authorized ^y section 901(3) of the Act of August 13, 1946 (22 U.S.C. 1131) and for entertainment.
