INDEPENDENT OFFICES NATIONAL CAPITAL PLANNING COMMISSION S A L A R I E S A N D E X P E N S E S, WASHINGTON REGIONAL MASS TRANSPORTATION SURVEY

For necessary expenses to enable the National Capital Planning Commission and the National Capital Regional Planning Council to jointly complete a survey of the present andfuture mass transportation needs of the National Capital region as defined in the National Capital Planning Act of 1952 (66 Stat. 781), and to report their findings and recommendations to the President, including transportation expenses and not to exceed $15 per diem in lieu of subsistence, as authorized by section 5 of the Act of August 2, 1946, as amended (5 U.S.C. 73b-2), g.^^o st^at. sos; 69 for the members of the Commission and Council serving without compensation, $50,000 to remain available until June 30, 1959: Provided, That the unobligated balance of $400,000 of appropriations heretofore granted under this head shall remain available until said date and shall be merged with this appropriation. For an additional amount for "Grants to States for unemployment compensation and employment service administration", $33,000,000.

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND WELFARE OFFICE OF EDUCATION ASSISTANCE FOR SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION

For an additional amount for "Assistance for school construction", $56,950,000, of which $50,000 shall be available for necessary expenses of technical services rendered by other agencies: Provided, That the amounts heretofore appropriated under this head shall be merged
