MAIL TRANSPORTATION
For maintaining, exchanging, and equipping motor vehicles for carrying the mails and for official use of the offices of the Secretary and Sergeant at Arms, $16,560. MISCEIXANEOUS ITEMS
For miscellaneous items, exclusive of labor, $1,974,105. POSTAGE STAMPS
For postage stamps for the Offices of the Secretaries for the Majority and Minority, $140; and for airmail and special-delivery stamps for Office of the Secretary, $160; Office of the Sergeant at Arms, $125; Senators and the President of the Senate, as authorized by law, $55,550, and the maximum allowance per capita of $450 is increased to $550 for the fiscal year 1961 and thereafter; in all, $55,975. STATIONERY (REVOLVING FUND)
For stationery for Senators and the President of the Senate, $181,800; and for stationery for committees and officers of the Senate, $13,200; in all, $195,000, to remain available until expended. COMMUNICATIONS
For an amount for communications which may be expended interchangeably for payment, in accordance with such limitations and restrictions as may be prescribed by the Committee on Rules and Administration, of charges on official telegrams and long-distance telephone calls made by or on behalf of Senators or the President of the Senate, such telephone calls to be in addition to those authorized by the provisions of the Legislative Branch Appropriation Act, 1947 (60 Stat. 392; 2 U.S.C. 46c, 46d, 46e), as amended, and the First Deficiency Appropriation Act, 1949 (63 Stat. 77; 2 U.S.C. 4 6 d - l), $15,150. NADMINISTRATIVE PROVISIONS
The ninth paragraph under the heading "Administrative Provisions" in the appropriations for the Senate in the Legislative Branch Appropriation Act, 1957 (2 U.S.C. 127) is amended by striking out "two" where it appears therein and inserting in lieu thereof "four". No part of any appropriation disbursed by the Secretary of the Senate shall be available hereafter for the payment to any person, at the time of the service upon him of a subpena requiring his attendance at any inquiry or hearing conducted by any committee of the Congress or of the Senate or any subcommittee of any such committee, of any witness fee or any sum of money as an advance payment of any travel or subsistence expense which may be incurred by such person in responding to that subpena.
