Private Law 89-368 AN ACT

For the relief of Glenn D. Humes.

November 2, 1966

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Vnited States of America in Congress assembled, That Glenn D. ciienn D. Humes. Humes (lieutenant, United States Navy, retired), of Altamonte Springs, Florida, is hereby relieved of liability to refund to the United States the sum of $5,706.71, representing the amount of compensation received by him in his employment as a temporary rural carrier at the United States post office, Maitland, Florida, from October 29, 1960, to November 24, 1961, in violation of section 2 of the Act of July 31, 1894, as amended (5 U.S.C. 62), prohibiting the holding of ^^\^^,%^^^ civilian offices by certain retired individuals. I n the audit and settlement of accounts of any certifying or disbursing officer of the United States, full credit shall be given for the amount for which liability is relieved by this Act. SEC. 2. The Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Glenn D. Humes, an amount equal to the aggregate of the amounts paid by him, or withheld from sums otherwise due him, in complete or partial satisfaction of the claim of the United States for refund of the amount specified in the first section of this Act. No part of the amount appropriated in this Act shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved November 2, 19 66.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That Major Ralph c^dwelf^^^ ^' D. Caldwell, United States Army, retired, service number 0264373, is hereby relieved of liability to the United States in the amount of $9,750.37, the amount of overpayments of retirement pay made to him between September 22, 1943, and August 31, 1960. I n the audit and settlement of the accounts of any certifying or disbursing officer of the United States, credit shall be given for any amount for which liability is relieved by this Act. SEC. 2. The Secretary of the Treasury is hereby authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to said Major Ralph D. Caldwell, an amount equal to the aggregate of the amounts paid b}^ him, or withheld from sums otherwise due him, in complete or partial satisfaction of the liability to the United States specified in the first section.
