Public Law 90-385 AN ACT To inci"ease the limitation on the number of oflScers for the Coast Guard.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives^ of the Coast United States of America in Congress assembled, That subsection (a) officers, Guard increase. of section 42 of title 14, United States Code, is amended by striking out "'so" s'ta't "195. "four" and inserting "five" in place thereof so that the subsection will read as follows: " (a) The total number of commissioned officers, excluding commissioned warrant officers, on active duty in the Coast Guard shall not exceed five thousand." Approved July 5, 1968.

Public Law 90-386 AN ACT To amend title 10, United States Code, to authorize an increase in the numbers of officers of the Navy designated for engineering duty, aeronautical engineering duty, and special duty.

Be It enacted by the Senate and House of Re2)resentatives of the United States of America In Congress assembled. That title 10, United ^•^- Navy. States Code, is amended as follows: offi^ers^increase (1) Section 5406 is amended by striking out "4 5/10" and inserting 70A Stat. 298. 5 5/10" in place thereof. (2) Section 5407 is amended by striking out "2 5/10" and inserting "3 5/10" in place thereof. (3) Section 5408 is amended by striking out "2 5/10" and inserting " 6 " in place thereof. (4) Section 5442(g) and 5447(g) are each amended by amending clauses (1), (2), and (3) to read as follows: "(1) Engineering duty—11 percent. "(2) Aeronautical engineering duty—7 percent. "(3) Special duty—12 percent." (5) Section 5587(c) is amended by inserting the following: sentences "^^^ ^*^* ^25; at the beginning thereof: "The types of engineering duty for which officers may be designated include ship engineering and ordnance engineering. The types of aeronautical engineering duty for which officers may be designated include aeronautical engineering and aviation maintenance." Approved July 5, 1968.
