National Schoolbus Safety Week. Designation authorization.

Authorizing and requesting the President to issue a proclamation designating the period from October 4, 1981, through October 10, 1981, as "National Schoolbus Safety Week".

Whereas twenty-two million students are transported by schoolbus to and from school each day; Whereas the safety of these students deserves the highest priority; and Whereas a national program is underway to call public attention to the importance of schoolbus safety during the week of October 4, 1981, through October 10, 1981: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the President is authorized and requested to issue a proclamation designating the period from October 4, 1981, through October 10, 1981, as "National Schoolbus Safety Week" and calling upon the people of the United States and interested groups and organizations to observe such week with appropriate ceremonies and activities. Approved August 14, 1981.
