Public Law 98-431 98th Congress Joint Resolution Sept. 28, 1984 [H.J. Res. 453]
Designating the week of September 30 through October 6, 1984, as "National HighTech Week".
Whereas the economy of this Nation is closely tied to technological advances; Whereas the United States has long been a leader in high technology development; Whereas it is of the highest national interest to focus our collective abilities to maintain this leadership; Whereas the national commitment to high technology development has been called into doubt; Whereas the youth of the Nation need to have educational opportunities to grow and develop in a high technology environment; and Whereas our youth should have a national focus on their high technology future: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the week of September 30 through October 6, 1984, is designated as "National High-Tech Week". The President is requested to issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to observe such week with appropriate ceremonies and activities, including programs aimed at educating the Nation's youth about high technology.
