PSYCHE.
AH! Psyche, you were right,Love never should be blind.It was no lack of love to lightYour torch, his face to find.
And you were glad, I know,Through all your toil and pain,That you had seen your love, althoughYou should not see again.
Yours was a soul so trueThat, had he not been fair,But some dark, ugly monster, youHad loved too well to care,
And so I claim your loveWas wise, and I would chooseTo know, however hard it prove,The worth of what I lose.
