I think its a travesty what happened to john, from what ive read of the battle and understand he did his upmost to inflick as much damage as possible to the french without to much damage to his own this has to be worked out as most admirals know suicide is a last resort and thats only if it works in your favour but john having recieved more damage than to carry on left the battle for repairs this was very sencible he must have been in a bad way to ask for reanforsments.
