2018 amendment[edit]

The Constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia was amended on 27 February 2018. I will reproduce the text of the amended articles, along with an unofficial translation below. […] unsigned comment by Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington (talk) 21:29, 5 April 2019‎ (UTC).[reply]

Break[edit]

Any amendments or revisions should be reproduced as separate documents, and listed separately. Provide a link to the amendment in the header from the Notes. --EncycloPetey (talk) 20:24, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message, EncycloPetey. The current version of the constitution as shown on the mainspace page already incorporates eight amendments made through the years since the passage of the 1993 constitution. I was hoping to incorporate the above as well after translating it. Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington (talk) 20:32, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We really should have the 1993 constitution. Wikisource does not maintain dynamic documents, but static editions. Each new edition should be given here in the same form that it was published. --EncycloPetey (talk) 21:19, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@EncycloPetey: The page currently reflects the 2014 version of the constitution as provided on the website of the Constitutional Council – [1]. For some reason they have not updated their website yet with the latest version from 2018. Every amendment to the constitution requires passage of a "constitutional law" (such as the one transcribed above) and then it is incorporated into the text of the Constitution for publication. Unlike amendments to the US Constitution, for example, the amendments to the Cambodian constitution are made in-line, into the text. The usable version is the one that incorporates all the amendments into it. What do you think? Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington (talk) 07:20, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that you feel the document should be dynamic, but as I said, that's not what Wikisource is nor what we do. Wikisource is a digital library. We do not dump old editions in favor of new ones. Instead, the old editions are kept, and each separate incarnation of the Constitution should be present here, identified by the date when it was published. We don't "update" documents when a new edition is published or when laws change. Rather, we keep the old document as is, and separately publish any new editions or changes in a new location. See for example Category:Constitutions of Georgia, where each published constitution of Georgia is listed. --EncycloPetey (talk) 15:07, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
