Problems with this edition
[edit]The title is wrong. This is in part due to errors in the Project Canterbury transcription edition (which appears to have been made in 2005) listed above upon which our edition appears to be based. This can be seen in the Victorian Women Writers Project transcription edition (at Indiana University) and even better in the British Library scan edition (available at Google Books). The title should be The Inheritance of Evil; or, The Consequence of Marrying a Deceased Wife's Sister where the main title is The Inheritance of Evil and "Consequence" is not plural (despite the plural being used in both Project Canterbury and Victorian Women Writers Project). —Uzume (talk) 03:38, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
