Choosing the value for line-height[edit]

The value of 1.5em for the line-height in the template has been chosen so that at 100% there is no change in the text either in size or in the distance between lines. Bob Burkhardt (talk) 18:37, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I undid the use of 100% for line-height: the effect seemed to be to scrunch everything together regardless of the font size selected. Unlike "px", "em" is a proportional value: the physical value is proportional to the font size, which is what the template was written for. Library Guy (talk) 16:22, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Ineuw: And I undid it again. Please explain what you are trying to accomplish with this change. The effects are not beneficial as far as I can see. Library Guy (talk) 18:57, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Library Guy: It really doesn't matter for me what the value is since the template is not working, and apologize for changing it. Please see THIS PAGE FOR SOME COMPARISONS.— Ineuw talk 19:53, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Ineuw: It seems to be functioning OK as far as I can see on my Firefox browser. The template you are comparing it with seems to reduce the line height more than proportionally, which is not the intention of this template, although it does have the "lh" parameter so you can do this if you want to, but the default behavior is to keep the line height proportional to the font size. I was actually kind of surprised to see that the default behavior on Wikisource and Wikipedia (without specifying any template) was not to change the line height at all, which looks pretty strange to me. Anyway, if you want more than proportional change in the line height, I think doing another template is the right choice, rather than moving this one away from its original intention. I also use Firefox, and agree with you on how ugly the reduced font quotes are in the Wikipedia text. - {{fsx}} does reduce the line height but not as much as {{fs90}}, {{fs85}}, and {{fs75}} which were my originals which only worked for single paragraphs. Based on the first two, GO3 created the fs90/s and. fs85/s. — Ineuw talk 20:28, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
