Police Nab Man Who Fled Scene Of Paramus Crash
- Patrolmen Robert Van Houten and Andrew Troy, while on fire duty on Rt. Twenty-eighth at 6:47 Monday night, apprehended Christopher A. Enright. Jr., 605 Ramapo Rd., Teaneck, within 40 minutes after man was reported as leaving the scene of an accident in Paramus at 6:10. The officers were directing traffic at the fire in the Hyway Diner, on Rt. when Enright's car stopped for traffic. It stalled and driver couldn't get it going. The officers noted that the car was steaming over and that the right front of the car was badly damaged. Questioning from Van Houten elicited from, the driver that he had struck car in Paramus just a short while ago. On checking with the Paramus police, it was found that the man was wanted as a hit and run driver. Enright was brought to Fair Lawn headquarters and there turned over to Paramus Patrolman, John Zabriskie.
- The fire in the Hyway Diner, located at Rt. 4 and Twenty-eighth St., was confined to the basement. according to only the smoke damage, owner, only to the transformer where he said the fire started. Sal Ruffilo is the proprietor. All four fire companies responded the alarm sounded by Desk Officer Kenneth Patrolmen Dante Lozzi. Troy and Van Houten were assigned to police duty at the scene.
