Announcement of the National Council for Peace and Order
No 5/2557
Re: Temporary end of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand

Whereas the National Council for Peace and Order has announced the seizure of the administrative power of the Country on the 22nd day of the month of May 2557 Buddhist Era, at the time of 16:30, according to the Announcement No 1/2557, it is hereby ordered as follows so that the public administration within the Kingdom proceed in a smooth manner:

  1. The Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, 2550 Buddhist Era, save Chapter 2 Monarch, shall end temporarily.
  2. The caretaker Council of Ministers shall cease to perform duties.
  3. The Senate, composed of the Senators remaining on the effective date of this Announcement, shall continue to perform duties.
  4. All the courts shall remain empowered to try and adjudicate upon cases according to the provisions of law and the announcements of the National Council for Peace and Orders.
  5. The independent organisations and other organisations according to the Constitution of 2550 Buddhist Era shall continue to perform duties.

This Announcement shall take effect from now on.
