Being the 10th year of the present reign

His Majesty King Ramathipbodi Sisinthra Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Wachiraklao Chaoyuhua is pleased to give a Great Royal Command that it be announced as follows:

Whereas the Prime Minister has notified Him of the following: The Government assumed the duties of state administration in September 2568 BE as a minority government formed by a coalition of various political parties which did not constitute the majority in the House of Representatives, during which the Country was faced with numerous kinds of challenge as a result of all-round uncertainty in terms of economy, society, politics, international relations, and world geopolitics, including the unrest situations around the Thai–Cambodian borders.

The Government has taken all measures in the state administration to allow the rectification of the urgent problems besetting the Country to be accomplished without delay, and is determined to bring about security, peace and order, and tranquillity to the Nation, which would move the politics and administration of the Country forwards for the benefit and happiness of the people. This includes, for instance, pushing forwards the constitutional amendments, swiftly rectifying the impacting problems arising from trade wars, implementing economic policies to increase income for people and communities with a view to reducing inequality in every aspect, providing aid and remedies to those affected by natural disasters, preventing and suppressing gambling casinos, online gambling, transnational crimes, cybercrime, and public scams in various forms, expeditiously rectifying the problems of Thai–Cambodian disputes through appropriate diplomatic negotiation mechanisms in conjunction with active national defence, and designating measures to be implemented for supporting the public and reducing various impacts likely to occur to them.

However, in the state administration, stability is required. Yet, due to being a minority government, and as a result of the political situations in the Country that is being beset by problems on various sides, the Government has been unable to continuously carry out the state administration in an effective and stable manner. If such a state of affairs as this is allowed to go on, political insecurity would ensue and international confidence would be affected, which would significantly impact the economic system of the Country and eventually result in the people losing their faith in the parliamentary system and democratic administration. An apt way out is to dissolve the House of Representatives so as to organise a new general election of its Members, by which the power to make political decisions would be readily returned to the people, the owners of the sovereignty, enabling the democratic administration with a Monarch as Chief to continue continuously and allowing the putting in place of a stable majority government with a legitimate mandate from the people, further permitting the state administration to go on in a smooth and steady manner;

Therefore, by the powers under the dispositions of sections 103 and 175 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, He is graciously pleased to enact the following Royal Decree:

Section1.This Royal Decree is called the House of Representatives Dissolution Royal Decree, 2568 BE.

Section2.This Royal Decree shall enter into operation from the day of its publication in the Royal Gazette onwards.

Section3.The House of Representatives shall be dissolved so as to have its Members elected anew through a general election.

Section4.A general election of Members of the House of Representatives shall take place on the day designated by an announcement of the Election Commission, which must not be sooner than forty-five days, but not later than sixty days, from the day of entry into operation of this Royal Decree.

Section5.The President of the Election Commission shall be in charge of the implementation of this Royal Decree.
