Re: Death of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother
To: Secretary General of the Teachers’ Council, Secretary General of the Commission for Promotion of Welfare and Well-being of Public School Teachers and Educational Personnel Members, Secretary General of the National Scout Office, Director of the Institute for Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology, Director of Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, Director of the National Institute of Educational Testing Service, Director of the Office of Nation Education Standards and Quality Assessment


Whereas the Office of the Prime Minister has informed us of the announcement by the Bureau of the Royal Household of the death of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, aged 93 years, on Friday, 24 October 2568, at 21:21 hours, at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society, according to the details attached herewith, the Ministry of Education hereby orders the agencies under its authority to proceed as follows from 25 October 2568 onwards:

  1. All the agencies under its authority and educational institutions shall lower their flags to half-mast for thirty days.
  2. All the public school teachers and educational personnel members, as well as the competent officials of the agencies under its authority, shall observe mourning for one year.
  3. All the agencies under its authority and educational institutions shall refrain from holding all events which have an atmosphere of merriment for one year.
  4. The agencies under its authority shall publish royal activities on the main pages of their websites. All the educational institutions shall hold exhibitions honouring Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.

This note is therefore made for you to further notify the agencies and personnel under your authority to observe the above.
