Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikisource! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in, but you may wish to create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits. For one thing, if you continue to edit without a username, a number is used to identify you.

In any case, I hope you enjoy donating your time to grow the Wikisource library that is free for everyone to use! In discussions, please "sign" your comments using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question here (click edit) and place {{helpme}} before your question. Again, welcome! John Vandenberg 09:16, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Adventures of Pinocchio[edit]

I regret to inform you that I have had to "undo" the changes you have made to The Adventures of Pinocchio. I am sure you had the best of intentions, however our edition is obtained from Project Gutenberg, and changes that do not conform to the printed edition are not desired.

My guess is that you are using a different edition, either by the same translator or by a different translator. If you would like to tell me which edition you are using, we can create a copy of our etext, and you can make the adjustments required to bring the copy into line with the printed edition you have.

Alternatively, perhaps you are creating a new translation. This is also acceptable, provided your translation is trying to rectify some stated problem with the public domain translations we have. For example, if you wanted to create a more modern translation, this would be acceptable if there were some obvious problems with the language used in our edition.

I look forward to hearing what your intentions were, so that we can be of assistance. John Vandenberg (chat) 02:28, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Again. To make an edit, there need to be some basis of fact and evidence provided. -- billinghurst (talk) 00:14, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are blocked for two weeks for repeatedly making variations to works without evidence, including inserting information that you have been told is false. This is the second time that we have had to bring this matter to your attention. -- billinghurst (talk) 12:01, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users.
