Scan-backing[edit]

Hi! I've moved The Work of the Liberal Party during the Last Fifty Years to be "scan-backed" from the file, via the "Index" page: Index:The work of the Liberal Party during the Last Fifty Years.pdf. We aim to scan-back all the works we can, because that make the text provenance clear. The basics of how this works is described at H:Proofreading.

Thanks for adding the text content! Inductiveloadtalk/contribs 17:44, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Inductiveload: - Thank you for sorting it out - have never added a text to Wikisource before! I bought a copy of the pamphlet because I couldn't find one online, and then thought "well, I've got a scanner let's see if I can share it with others". Wow, that's brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing it! Do let me know if there's anything I can help you with. Inductiveloadtalk/contribs 17:54, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Inductiveload: I've got a variety of old Liberal Party leaflets and books which I hope to scan and upload at some point - will need copyright advice when I do come to do them. DuncanHill (talk) 18:00, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Good to know! Ping me at the time, or you can ask at WS:S, but the TL;DR version is:
  • Over 95 years ago (so pre-1926): everything is PD at Wikisource (US rules) regardless of origin place
  • After that, if it's a UK work and wasn't published in the US, if it was PD in the UK in 1996, it's OK too. This usually means that authors have to have died before 1926.
  • Crown copyright is much shorter {{PD-UKGov}} (pre-1971 is the rule), and some modern UK gov stuff is {{OGL}} anyway. Inductiveloadtalk/contribs 18:09, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
