Getting Started[edit]

Hi, Evan! Thanks for taking an interest in Wikisource. I would suggest the best way to get started and make the transition from Wikipedia to Wikisource is to do a few things:

  1. Read the style guide (it's fairly short). The two most important things to note are the way pages are named (using subpage notation) and the use of {{header}} on pages (to help standardize the layout of WS).
  2. Refer to our help pages if for possible clarification.
  3. If you add works, pay attention to the copyright status (it's always a shame to have to remove good works because of copyright violations).

You can refer to our Community Portal if you want ideas for working on a project, although most people add works that interest them. We've got a number of wikiprojects dedicated to adding content, if you're interested (of course, you're free to add whatever you want here). If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!—Zhaladshar (Talk) 21:44, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
