Social Security Act 2018[edit]

I've put transcription of this on hold for now. Since this will be part of the wider NZ Law project, and is a massive transcription project, I've instead shifted to completing a couple test laws such as Subordinate Legislation (Confirmation and Validation) Act 2015.

There's a bit to work out to complete to ensure smaller acts are meeting the goals of the project before committing time and resources to such a massive Act (Including all its versions, and older rewrites of the Act).

Wanting to avoid the need to go back and re-format the entire thing if something changes in how Acts will be presented.

Once time has been spent fleshing out how legislation should be presented (i.e. right now I'm not happy with versions pages), then this project can be picked up again. El Dubs (talk) 21:24, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adding thoughts on how to progress with this.
I think the best way to handle laws with amendments and other changes, is to only use transclusion on the first version of it, and to transclude "amendment acts". Transcluding subsequent versions of the primary act would be an exceptional amount of work that would not actually provide much benefit.
Transcluding the initial version does add extra work, however it allows making use of the Wikisource verification process.
Future versions can still have their PDF uploaded, and be linked to via {{textinfo}} so a primary source still exists on Wikimedia. Then, subpage transclusion can just link to the original version for unchanged sections, and link to amendment acts for amended sections, this means not transcribing and transcluding duplicate information.
The only concern with this is that the ability to "mass copy" large numbers of pages is not openly accessible. El Dubs (talk) 23:01, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
