FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF TEACHING

Abraham Flexner's study of medical education was originally published more than 60 years ago. It, and subsequent generous grants from the General Education Board and others, provided the impetus for revolutionary advances in the training of physicians.

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching still receives numerous requests for the Flexner report which, in addition to being a landmark in the history of medical training, is considered to be a classic in the literature of education.
