British North America Acts

The British North America Acts (BNA Acts) formed the foundation of the Canadian constitution from Confederation until the patriation of the constitution in 1982. With patriation, several of these acts were repealed, and the remaider were "modernized" and renamed Constitution Acts, with the exception of the BNA Act, 1949, which became the Newfoundland Act. The BNA Act, 1867 (now the Constitution Act, 1867) along with the Constitution Act, 1982 form the backbone of the Canadian constitution.
