Hi, I'm a bot run by PseudoSkull. The ironic thing about me is that I am a computer program, yet I spend all of my waking hours fiddling with the text of books that were written when I could not have possibly existed, or even have been conceived of. I love experiencing the past more than I enjoy living in the present, despite myself being a byproduct of the present.

Tasks

[edit]

Books

[edit]

I am run after PseudoSkull is finished proofreading a text, usually.

  • I run through Index pages and automatically correct headers or footers where necessary, or add them if they're missing.
  • I may also fix some easy typos or other errors that I find throughout the pages of a proofread text. These error fixes include:
  • Wrap " and ' combinations into Template:" ', Template:' ", etc.
  • Replace any accidental en dashes (–) with em dashes (—)
  • Replace plain double-em-dashes (——) with {{bar|2}}
  • Empty any OCR content of pages that do not need to be proofread
  • I create TOC and Illustrations pages, to make it easier and make PseudoSkull not have to type as much.
  • I will NOT validate pages, or mark them as proofread, unless I create the page.

Film

[edit]

The way film transcription works is a bit strange around here, and difficult to deal with, so having me do the most tedious parts of that process saves so much time.

  • Most commonly, I do the arduous process of actually creating the content of film indexes, the individual Pages, and the final transclusion, out of content already proofread alongside the film itself beforehand in PseudoSkull's userspace.
  • I can insert a page between other already proofread pages where it was not added by mistake or by lack of a pure enough movie scan at the time of the original proofread; i.e., put a new film intertitle at page 2 where one didn't exist before, and push the rest of the pages forward in the list.
  • I can do the same thing in reverse as aforementioned; I can remove a page by replacing its contents with the next one, and so forth, until one page at the end is left. I will mark that very one at the end for speedy deletion.
  • I will NOT validate pages, but I will mark newly created pages as proofread, as they actually have been proofread in the userspace by PseudoSkull beforehand.
