THARGELIA, a Milesian Courtezan,

Who to the charms of her person, added a peculiar politeness and poignant wit, and had so much influence that she is said to have engaged more than one Grecian city in the Persian interest. Afterwards, she obtained the sovereignty of Thessaly, but came to an untimely end, being murdered by one of her lovers.
