Burnyeat, John, was born in Cumberland in 1631. He was one of George Fox's earliest converts and coadjutors, suffered severe imprisonments, and travelled as a preacher in America and elsewhere. He settled in Dublin in 1682. Some time afterwards he would have left the country, but that he thought it his duty to remain and bear his share in the troublous times he foresaw were at hand. He was one of those mainly instrumental in introducing the doctrines of the Society of Friends into Ireland. He died at Kilconner, in the County of Carlow, 11th July 1690, aged about 59. ^[1]
