LEHI-NEPHI, LAND OF. A small division of the land of Nephi, originally settled by the Nephites, but after their departure it was taken possession of by the Lamanites, and by them made the chief centre of their government. It appears to have been simply the valley in which the city of Lehi-Nephi stood, but because it at one time comprised all the territory occupied by the Nephites, whence they spread out and colonized, it is more often called the land of Nephi than the land of Lehi-Nephi; but it must not be confounded with the larger land of Nephi which grew out of it. This smaller land of Nephi is supposed to have been situated in the country now called Ecuador.
