SIBBALD. (Lieutenant, 1841.)

Thomas Sibbald entered the Navy 2 Dec. 1825; and passed his examination in 1832. For his services on the coast of China he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant 8 June, 1841. His subsequent appointments were – 2 Sept. 1841, to the Siren 16, Capt. Wm. Smith (b), fitting at Woolwich – 13 Oct. following, to the Illustrious 72, flagship of Sir Chas. Adam on the North America and West India station, whence he returned in 1845 – and, 6 June and 24 Oct. 1846, to the Avenger and Amphion steam-frigates, both commanded by Capt. Woodford John Williams, with whom he continued employed on Home service, in the latter vessel as First-Lieutenant, until Oct. 1847.
