Notes: Son of Anglican vicar, began to study architecture in London, converted to Catholicism 1864 (Farm St), Jesuit novice 1866, professor of theology for six years, pastoral work fo "some years" in Wimbeldon, editor of The Month (1891-1921), then moved to Jesuit noviciate in Roehampton.
