The defacto republic which ruled first England from 1649 to 1660 (including Ireland and Scotland later in this period) between the reigns of Charles I and Charles II. It is also known as the English Interregnum and includes the period known as The Proctectorate (under the reigns of Lord Protector Oliver Cromwell and his heir Richard).
