Bertini, Salvatore, born in the year 1721 at Palermo, received his musical education at the Conservatory of La Pieta, under the celebrated Leo. He was a skilful composer. His first works were for the theatre; he then composed church music, and was successful in both styles, his melodies being sweet and simple in his dramatic pieces, whilst in those for the church they were sublime and pathetic. He died at Palermo in 1794.
