CAMPBELL, SIR EDWARD FITZGERALD, BARONET (1822–1882)

Son of Maj-General Sir Guy Campbell, Bart. C.B., born Oct. 25, 1822 : educated at Sandhurst : entered the Army in the 60th Rifles, 1841 : Lt-Colonel, 1870 : retired 1872 : served with distinction in the Panjab campaign of 1848–9, was at the siege of Multan and at Gujarat : in 1849 was A.D.C, to the C. in C, Sir C. Napier : was at the siege of Delhi in 1857 : Military Secretary to Lord Canning when Governor-General, 1857–61 : was Assistant Inspector of Volunteers, 1864 : died Nov. 23, 1882.
