CRAWFORD, SIR THOMAS (1824–1895)

Son of George Crawford : educated at Edinburgh : M.D. : entered the Army Medical Service, 1848 : in the Burmese war, 1852–3, at the capture of Rangoon and Bassein, and other actions : served in the Crimea : P.M.O. in the N. Mahratta country and the Dekkan in 1857–8 : Superintending Surgeon of the Sirhind circle : head of the A. M.D. in Ireland : Surgeon-General in India, in the second Afghan war : Director-General of the Army Medical Service, 1882–9 : K.C.B., 1885 : LL.D., Edinburgh : died Oct. 12, 1895.
