The Dictionary of National Biography (DNB) is a standard work of reference with articles on more than 29,000 notable figures from British history. It was originally published in 63 volumes between 1885 and 1900.
The project is incomplete. We have transcribed many of the DNB articles, but more remain. All 63 volumes are available here at Wikisource as scanned images. The quality of the images varies from very good to horrible. If you wish to read an article that has not yet been converted, you may try to read the scanned images. Go to the volume listed below. For each volume, converted articles are listed in the "DNB navigation" table of that volume. If the article you want to read is not listed, then use that volume's "Access to scanned images" link to find the image of the article. |
