Executive Order 7823 of February 25, 1938

Waiving the Provisions of Executive Order of January 17, 1873, as to Joseph M. Watkins


By virtue of and pursuant to the authority vested in me by section 1753 of the Revised Statutes of the United States (U.S.C., title 5, sec. 631), the provisions of the Executive Order of January 17, 1873, as amended, prohibiting, with certain exceptions, officers and employees of the United States from holding any office under any State, Territorial, or municipal government, are hereby waived as to Joseph M. Watkins, an instructor of languages under the Department of Education of Baltimore, Maryland, so as to permit his appointment, under the civil service rules, as interpreter in the Office of the Collector of Customs, Baltimore, Maryland, at $5.00 per diem when actually employed, but not to exceed $1,200 per annum.
