Hail Mary
a traditional Roman Catholic prayer calling for the intercession of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Rooted in Biblical texts, the Ave Maria developed in the Middle Ages; in this context, Mary is known as the Blessed Virgin.

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee,
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
