The transcription follows the text as printed, with the following exceptions:—
(i) The text at the end of some chapter tapers (i.e. the length of the lines of text become progressively shorter). This has not been replicated.
(ii) There are asterisks of various sizes in the margins at various points. They appear on the LHS of the verso and RHS of the recto pages. These have been replicated in terms of position in the text and size but they have been standardised to appear on the LHS of the text.
(iii) Where quotations appear, they are wrapped in " ". If they continue over more than one line, " appears in the left hand margin against each line. For the purposes of correct transclusion, these additional " have not been replicated.
(iv) Any use of the long 's' is replaced with a normal 's'. Chrisguise (talk) 09:56, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
