Davids, Thomas William Rhys, hon. M.A., Ph.D. Breslau Univ. 1882, professor of Pali and Buddhist literature Univ. Coll., London since 1883, and editor of Pali Text Society's Journal, etc., stipendiary magistrate Ceylon 1866-71, sometime acting district judge, etc., a member of the South-eastern circuit, a student of the Middle Temple 27 April, 1874, called to the bar 25 April, 1877 (eldest son of Rev. Thomas William Davids, of Colchester, Essex); born 12 May, 1843.
