London Univ. 1838, member of council Kings Coll., London, since 1883, went the South-eastern circuit, professor of mechanics and mathematics Normal School of Science, and the Royal School of Mines, South Kensington, since 1869, author of Abstract of Reported Cases relating to Letters Patent for Inventions, The Elements of Mechanism, The Principles of Mechanics, A Text Book on the Steam Engine, a student of the Inner Temple 6 Jan., 1840 (then aged 19), called to the bar 27 Jan., 1862 (only surviving son of late John Goodeve, attorney-at-law); born 26 Nov., 1821; married 16 June, 1873, Geraldine Sophia, youngest dau. of late Rev. Edward Weigall, M.A.
