Griffith, William Downes, B.A., Trin. Coll., Dublin, 1851, judge of county courts (circuit No. 25) since 1877, attorney-general Cape of Good Hope 1866–72, author of The Law of Bankruptcy 1868 and Practice under Judicature Acts 1875, 1877, a student of King's Inns, Dublin, 1848, and of the Inner Temple 2 May, 1851 (then aged 22), called to the bar there 1855 (2nd son of Walter Hussey Griffith Esq., of Dublin, bar.-at-law); born 18 July, 1829; married 1 Oct., 1861, Harriet, 3rd dau. of William Stokes, M.D., and has issue (see Foster's Baronetage).
