Pears, Edwin, LL.B. London Univ. 1869, first in 1st class honours jurisprudence and Roman law, elected president of European bar in Constantinople 1880, practises before the consular court of the Levant, a member of the Midland circuit, sometime acting deputy judge at Constantinople, editor of Prisons and Reformatories, author of The Fall of Constantinople, Constantinople correspondent of Daily News, a student of the Middle Temple 12 Nov., 1867, exhibitioner constitutional law and legal history, called to the bar 17 Nov., 1870 (2nd son of Robert Pears, of York, manufacturer); born 18 March, 1835; married 22 Dec, 1857, Mary, dau. of Capt. J. R. Hall.
