Ponsonby, Edward, secretary to speaker House of Commons since 1884, assistant secretary to parliamentary secretary to the treasury (Lord R. Grosvenor) 1880-4, J.P. Middlesex and co. Carlow, late lieut. R.N., a student of the Inner Temple 7 Nov., 1876 (aged 25), called to the bar 17 Nov., 1879 (eldest son of Rev. and Hon. Walter William Brabazon Ponsonby, M.A., rector of Stutton, Suffolk); born 1 March, 1851; married 22 April, 1875, Blanche Vere (Guest), youngest sister of Ivor Bertie, 1st Lord Wimborne, and has issue (see Foster's Peerage, E. Bessborough).
