Shirley, Walter Shirley, M.A., B.C.L. Balliol Coll., Oxon, B.A., classical and legal honours 1875, from Rugby, author of Leading Cases in Common Law, Sketch of the Common Law, and Elementary Treatise on Magisterial Law, a member of the North-eastern circuit, a student of the Inner Temple 13 Nov., 1873 (then aged 22), called to the bar 17 Nov., 1876 (only surviving son of William Edwood Shirley, of Doncaster, solicitor, sometime mayor and town clerk); born 17 Oct., 1851.
