Smith, George James Philip, M.A., St. John's Coll., Camb., 1829, a master of supreme court of judicature since 1879, of Queen's bench 1871-5, of Queen's bench division 1875-9, a student of the Inner Temple 5 April, 1826, called to the bar 14 May, 1830 (3rd son of Joseph Smith, Esq., late of Shortgrove Hall, Essex, dec.); born 25 May, 1805; married 14 Dec., 1843, Elizabeth Anna Maria, youngest dau. of Rev. John Adey Curtis, vicar of Bitton, co. Glouc., and of Mrs. Curtis-Hayward, of Quedgeley House, co. Glouc.
