London Univ. 1850, joint editor of Mayne on Damages, 4th edn., a student of the Inner Temple 10 June, 1857 (then aged 23), called to the bar 30 April, 1860, Q.C. 24 March, 1880, bencher 25 Nov., 1881 (2nd son of Richard Smith, Esq., of London, dec.); born 17 Feb., 1834; married 10 Aug., 1874, Jessie, 2nd dau. of Sir Thomas Gabriel, Bart.; she died 15 Nov., 1879 (see Foster's Baronetage).
