Coll., Camb., 1863, junior equity counsel to the treasury 1881, member of the Bar Committee since Dec., 1883, formerly reporter for Incorporated Council, a student of Lincoln's Inn 23 Jan., 1860 (then aged 23), called to the bar 17 Nov., 1862 (eldest son of Rev. James Stirling, of Aberdeen); born 3 May, 1836; married 12 May, 1868, Aby, eldest dau. of John Thomson, Esq., of Shalford, Surrey.
