Surtees, William Edward, D.C.L., Univ. Coll., Oxon, 1841, from Winchester Coll., high sheriff co. Durham 1866, J.P., D.L., J.P. Northumberland and Somerset, a student of Lincoln's Inn 20 May, 1833 (then aged 22), called to the bar 10 June, 1836 (only son of Edward Surtees, Esq., of Newcastle-upon-Tyne); born 1 April, 1811; married 10 May, 1853, Caroline, widow of Genl. Sir Stephen Remnant Chapman, K.C.H., C.B., dau. of Rev. George Pyke, of Baythorn Park, Essex.
