Thornely, John, B.A. London Univ. 1848 and a member of Convocation, private secretary to Rt Hon. C. P. Villiers (president Poor Law Board) 1859-66, auditor under Local Government Board 1869-79, a student of the Middle Temple 3 Nov., 1849, called to the bar 26 Jan., 1853 (4th son of John Daniel Thornely, of Liverpool, merchant, dec.); born 10 July, 1829; married 12 June, 1862, Ellen Agnes, 2nd dau. of Thomas Heath, Esq., of Myton Grange, co. Warwick.
