Tupper, Martin Farquhar, F.R.S., D.C.L., Christ Church, Oxon, 1847, M.A. 1835, from the Charterhouse, author of Proverbial Philosophy and other works, a. student of Lincoln's Inn 18 Jan., 1832 (then aged 21), called to the bar 24 Nov., 1835 (eldest son of Martin Tupper, of London); born 17 July, 1810; married 26 Nov., 1835, Isabella, only dau. of A. W. Devis, Esq., late of Calcutta, and has issue.
